Biography
Prof. dr Dragana Purković Macan , graduated in 2001 from the Faculty of Applied Arts, University of Arts in Belgrade, at the Department of Scenography. She earned her doctorate in Dramatic and Audio-Visual Arts from the Academy of Arts, University of Novi Sad. She has been a resident scenographer at the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska since 2001. She is the author of 105 theatre set designs, 20 costume designs, set designs for five feature films, three TV series, and numerous television shows and public events. She has also designed 10 exhibition installations. Performances featuring her set designs have been staged in professional theatres in Serbia, France, Russia, the USA, Austria, Romania, Croatia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. She is a full professor at the Academy of Arts, University of Banja Luka, where she has served as the dean for the past five years.
She is the recipient of numerous awards at professional theatre festivals, including: Sterija Award for Best Set Design for the performance Switzerland, Sterijino Pozorje, Novi Sad (2018); Award for Visual Identity for the performance Our Days, Zoran Radmilović Days, Zaječar, (2018); Ardalion Award for Best Set Design for the performance The Fourteenth, Yugoslav Theatre Festival, Užice, (2014); won several Awards for Best Set Design at the Theatre Meetings, Brčko for the performance The Tragic Burlesque (2015), The Fourteenth (2013), Workers’ Chronicle (2011), St. George Shoots the Dragon (2006).
